The journey we have undertaken has led us down many pleasurable paths. Pygoras are friendly, loveable and enjoyable animal to raise. We have learned through experience and through the comradery of other pygora aficionados, sheep and llama owners, spinners and craftsman. This circle of like-minded people, have a sincere interest in the well-being of their fleece-bearing animals and fibers used for their crafts. We joined two great Yahoo Groups that are invaluable resources: Spinning Group and Pygora Group. Click on the links at the bottom of the page to join these Groups! The participants share information from life-times of experience and are gracious enough to answer your questions or direct you to a blog where others can assist you. To reciprocate all the assistance others have given us, we are building a “Goat Academy.” The understanding of your pygora’s over all well being plays a major role in good care and maintenance of your pygora family. Learn more about herbal feed by visiting “My Herbal Feed” article to assist in the prevent diseases in lieu of using store-bought vitamins and harsh antibiotics. Indiscriminate use of especially anitbiotics has triggered drug resistance giving goat keepers little recourse for prevention and treatment of disease and infections. In the future, more informative articles will be added. Moreover, the Pygora Breeders Association registers pygoras through by-laws to: preserve genetic integrity through breeding standards, promote pygoras to expand their popularity and assure good goat husbandry. A Registered Pygora must be no more than 75% Registered Angora from the American Angora Breeders Society or 75% Pygmy from the National Pygmy Goat Association. Visit the PBA website for more information.
